Scholarships Offered

A Music Scholarship at St Andrew’s provides aspiring musicians with the opportunity to work with highly qualified teachers and includes tuition, musicianship and ensemble activities, and access to the Andrean family of artists, mentors, classes and concerts. The performance opportunities are limitless and our international music tours are renowned for being life-changing experiences.

In 2019, we invite high achieving, talented musicians to apply for music scholarships, helping set them on a pathway to music success as part of their academic schedule. Music Scholarships (at a range of percentages) are offered to encourage students with instrumental or vocal proficiency, or students who may be particularly gifted in music composition.

Music Scholarships are available to students entering Years 4, 5 and/or 6 and Years 7 to 11 to strengthen the already vibrant music program in the school.

About St Andrew’s Cathedral School

St Andrew’s (SACS) is a dynamic, independent Anglican school located in two high-rise buildings in Sydney’s CBD. With innovative learning spaces and an emphasis on quality teaching, our urban location presents innumerable opportunities for students to engage beyond the classroom; with city museums, concert halls, theatres, state and national institutions and galleries. Our central city location enables students to travel with their parents to work, or easily reach the school by train, car or bus.

Our Academic Program

SACS caters for learners of all abilities, encouraging each to develop a lifelong love of learning. The overwhelming majority of students pursue university education following graduation. SACS delivers two credentials for the final years of school (Years 11 and 12): the Higher School Certificate (HSC) from the NSW Education Standards Authority and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Through Years 7-10, SACS also utilises the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (MYP). As a fully comprehensive school, St Andrew’s differentiates teaching practices to accommodate students with a broad range of interests and abilities. Our performance in public Australian examinations, along with the impressive “student gain” statistics that track the academic results of students throughout their journey at SACS, provide evidence of an exceptional culture of learning and teaching at our school. At SACS, every student is nurtured and valued. A growing number of international students enrol every year and a diverse community of students are drawn from all over Sydney and beyond.

Co-curricular activities

SACS has created innovative learning environments that encourage a passion for learning and a culture of participation across sport, music and the performing arts. There are more than 30 music and drama ensembles at the school, and a comprehensive Outdoor Education program and camps (Years 3 – 10), based at the school’s rural Southern Highlands property. A variety of national and international experiential tours are offered each year – focussing on music, sport, community service, drama, languages, outdoor adventure, history or science.

Scholarships offered

St Andrew’s has a number of coveted academic and music scholarship opportunities open to highly accomplished students who would otherwise be unable to attend the school due to financial circumstances, and to assist existing students. These include:

  • Academic Scholarships – students entering Years 5-6 and Year 7
  • Music Scholarships – students entering Years 4, 5 or 6 and Years 7 to 11
  • Cathedral Chorister Scholarships – Years 4-6 (boys)
