About Ascham School
Ascham School is a non-selective day and boarding school for girls from Prep to Year 12, located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Since its foundation in 1886, Ascham has continued to be a centre of excellence for the education of girls and young women and we bear this standard proudly. An Ascham girl will be prepared both academically and personally to meet the demands of the 21st century.
Ascham is known for outstanding academic results as well as providing an inclusive, warm, inspiring environment of day and boarding students who benefit from so much on offer, not least an exceptional academic program. This environment provides our students with every means to become independent learners and develop into self-reliant, confident, compassionate young women with a sense of purpose in the world.
At the heart of Ascham’s learning and teaching, excellence is our focus on the individual girl, achieved through the Dalton Plan. The Dalton Plan stimulates self-reliance, assists each girl to assume responsibility for her own learning, to develop a keen interest in her subjects and the ability to question and debate ideas. It engages both learner and teacher in intellectual partnership.
An Ascham girl’s days are filled with interactive and challenging learning, together with opportunities to develop her talent within a wide range of co-curricular activities. These include a broad choice of sports, music, drama, clubs, debating, international exchange programs and tours and community projects, as well as school-based leadership and support programs such as House and Sister networks.
Ascham welcomes girls entering Year 7 in 2026 to apply for its Academic, All Rounder, Boarding, Diversity, Vi et Animo and Music Scholarships. Ascham scholarships are awarded to girls who will thrive academically and personally through the Dalton Plan and who will, in turn, make a significant contribution to the life of the School.
The School awards scholarships annually to selected girls in recognition of their achievements and potential. Ascham scholarships and bursaries are means-tested and we welcome applications from girls whose families require financial assistance to attend the School.
The selection process includes written scholarship tests and interviews.
