Global Thought Leadership – A King’s Education

The King’s School enjoys international prominence for many reasons, not least being its unique history as Australia’s oldest independent school.

With three campuses set on an extraordinary geographic footprint, a King’s education is more than merely the inculcation of knowledge and skills with the occasional inclusion of co-curricular and sports activities.

The King’s School is committed to providing pathways for its students in an environment where Global Thought Leaders are made. The School has a three-pillar approach where students are nurtured through Academic Excellence and Character Development within the context of a Christian Community.

According to Headmaster Tony George, King’s continues to pledge its commitment to making an impact for the good of society, not just educationally but also socially and environmentally.

“We want our students to be challenged to grow and develop into intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual, but also courageous, adventurous, entrepreneurial, faithful, honourable, dependable, and egalitarian individuals who strive to be the very best they can be for the sake of serving others”, says Mr George.

The kinds of leaders the School produces are those with a healthy risk appetite and whose character demonstrates humility and excellence.

The King’s School offers a range of Scholarships and Bursaries for entry into the Senior School. Many of these awards have been established as a result of the generosity of parents, friends, associated organisations and bequests.

Scholarship assessment examinations are held in February each year and are followed by interviews for short-listed applicants. To find out more, please contact The King’s School Admissions team on (02) 9683 8555 or enrol@kings.edu.au

The King’s Boarding Adventure
Boarding is at the heart of The King’s School, and for nearly two centuries students have called King’s a home away from home.

As one of the largest boarding schools in the country, The King’s School offers boarding from Years 3 to 12 across two residential campuses in North Parramatta and the Southern Highlands.

“The King’s School is endowed with an extraordinary geographic footprint with 320 acres at North Parramatta and 169 acres in the Southern Highlands. The School’s world-class facilities enable the King’s adventure to be one of mind, body and soul,” says Headmaster Mr Tony George.

The learning landscape of each campus provides students with the challenge and adventure needed to shape their unique character. What makes a King’s education unique is that every student is encouraged to develop a healthy risk appetite, embrace challenge and adventure, and be actively engaged with the School community.
Mr George says, “King’s is a place where adversity is faced and challenges are met, opportunities explored, and characters forged. It is a place where students live, learn and grow”.

The King’s School is committed to providing students with a well-rounded education so they may graduate with a variety of skills and talents to make positive contributions for the good of society.

The primary boarding experience offered by Tudor House sees co-educational boarding for students in Years 3 to 6, with a holistic education approach, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).

For Senior School boarders, boys are exposed to several programs both in and away from the classroom to help develop well-rounded individuals. This includes cadets, outdoor education, sports, agriculture club and more, as well as a choice of curricular pathways from Year 11 with VET courses and HSC subjects both offered with the School currently undergoing the accreditation process to become an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme School from 2025.

Students quickly adapt to life in a boarding house as friendships become forged. Spending time together outside of school hours playing sport, exploring the grounds or completing homework, they become entrenched in the boarding life.
Pastoral care programs across both campuses help ensure that boarders feel part of an extended family when with their fellow boarders, with friendships made often lifelong.

It is important to The King’s School that our community and families are supported in boarding through the provision of financial assistance in the form of Boarding Bursaries. Bursaries are means tested and assist with between 25% and 75% of boarding fees to attend the School. Bursary awards are subject to reassessment every three years.
