A Deep Respect for Intellectual Values Fosters HSC Excellence at Kincoppal – Rose Bay

Kincoppal-Rose Bay is guided by the educational vision of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, Foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Madeleine Sophie’s vision is articulated in the five goals of a Sacred Heart education and one of these is a deep respect for intellectual values. This means that we impart a love of learning and students understand that learning involves many experiences beyond the classroom and is a lifelong privilege.

This vision has fostered a culture that has seen KRB students consistently achieve HSC excellence. In the 2021 HSC, Kincoppal – Rose Bay was the top performing Catholic Independent Girls Boarding School in NSW. KRB ranked 28th in the State, the school’s equal best result over the past five years.

Of the Class of 2021, seven students achieved an ATAR over 99, 22 students received an ATAR over 95 (23%) and 44 received an ATAR over 90 (47%). 68% of our Year 12 students and 92% of our accelerants achieved at least one band 6 result (approximately 11% of students achieve at this level across the state). Of our Boarders, 56% achieved an ATAR above 90, and 68% achieved an ATAR above 80. The Major Works of five students were nominated for inclusion in showcases, with three selected for On STAGE, Art Express and Shape.

The Class of 2022 has already achieved HSC excellence, prior to their final examinations. Three KRB students received SHAPE Nominations for their Major Design Projects. Their projects will now be considered for inclusion in the SHAPE Exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in February 2023. Two HSC Drama Individual Performances and two Group Performances, which together featured seven KRB students, were nominated for OnSTAGE –  a selection of exemplary performances and individual projects from HSC Drama students. Should they be selected, they will showcase their work at the Seymour Centre in February 2023.

An impressive 50 percent of the 2022 HSC cohort has received early entry offers to universities with approximately 70 percent of these girls receiving multiple offers.
